Mobilizing global alliance to safeguard the rights and well-being of young and future generations in Africa

The Partnership for Future Generations in Africa  responds to the pressing need to protect the rights and interests of younger and future generations in Africa. For years, political short-termism, lack of long-term planning and investment, youth exclusion decision-making, and generalized governance deficits have compounded the challenges young people face today and are likely to undermine the well-being of future generations tomorrow. In line with the UN Secretary-General’s request for young people to shape the Our Common Agenda, the PFGA envisions a continent where intergenerational opportunities are democratically abundant. This Partnership aims to foster intragenerational solidarity and intergenerational fairness in the African governance system and policy spaces.

We aim to achieve actual involvement of young people in co-producing policy, fostering participatory futures and foresight culture, long-term thinking and anticipatory governance for desirable futures in Africa.

'Society is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are dead and those who are to be born'

Edmund Burke

Help make the world a safer place. Humanity faces multiple interconnected pressing challenges such as potential existential risks, biodiversity loss, great power conflicts and strategic wars. Also, threats from emerging technologies, especially development of unaligned AI systems and biotechnology, extreme drought and famine  have the potential to negatively disrupt the course of human progress.
